Generating Nostalgia in Music

A piece of music I've started learning and digging a bit deeper into is Sonata No.30 by Beethoven. I feel the first movement is covered in a sense of nostalgia. Looking back over youthful energy and excitement from the perspective of someone who as come to terms with life and is quite satisfied with how everything has worked out. The dedication this work received may also hold some clues to the feelings behind the music?
